The Coronas seventh album, Time Stopped was released in October and went straight to number one on the Irish album charts, making them the first and only self-released Irish band in history to have a third consecutive number one album, an amazing feat for the Dublin trio. The album contains singles such as Strive, If You Let Me and Write Our Own Soundtrack, which all received strong radio airplay in Ireland in the past year and the latest release from the album, Getaway Car, is accompanied by a poignant music video starring Laurence and Oren Kinlan, with cinematography by John Conroy (acclaimed for his work on Penny Dreadful, Luther and Westworld amongst others) and directed by Laurence Kinlan (Love/Hate). As well as the fans catapulting the band to number one, Time Stopped has also been lauded by the critics. The Mail On Sunday made it their album of the week. Hot Press awarded it 9 out of 10 saying, ‘…it all hangs beautifully and positively together. A winner.’ And The Irish Times gave it four stars saying it’s ‘A mature, reflective record from a band that deserves a closer look.’ The Coronas have just completed a huge world tour in support of Time Stopped, playing to full houses in the UK, Europe, North America and Australia, and finishing the tour with 5 sold out shows in the 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin in December. These gigs have become a Christmas tradition for the band and their legions of fans, memorable for their truly magical atmosphere.
“We are absolutely loving being back on the road. Some of these shows were originally scheduled to happen over two years ago so it’s lovely that people haven’t forgotten about us. London, Amsterdam, New York, Vancouver, Sydney and obviously the Dublin shows were definite highlights but we’re just really enjoying travelling and promoting Time Stopped. It’s amazing to hear the new songs being sung back to us.’
